UPDATE: The ability to have a more balanced selection of Basic Nemesis cards that draw from all the games has been added. Thanks to rngesus.wept for the suggestion! The game is being published by Indie Boards & Cards, the studio behind the original Aeon’s End as well as popular social deduction titles such as Coup, The Resistance and The Resistance: Avalon. UPDATE: Scripting added for the Market randomizer. Big thanks to TheJazzAgenT♫ for letting me use their script! Finally, there’s the city of Gravehold. The breach mages of Aeon’s End are not just fighting for their own survival, but the survival of all of humanity, and the Nameless know it. If Gravehold is ever reduced to 0 life, the mages have lost and humanity is but a memory. Protect the city at all costs! 🤣🤣

All base games are here, Aeon's End, War Eternal, Legacy, The New Age, Outcasts, Legacy of Gravehold and Past & Future. I’ve completed the full campaign now, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The story, considering the fact it’s told through a small amount of text on cards, is really engaging. I was able to invest in the universe more easily, and care about the characters more than in a lot of fantasy novels I’ve read. In this review I will be including information up until the end of chapter one of the campaign. My intention is to provide an overview without spoiling as much as possible, but there will be imagery of some of the box contents, as well as some of the cards and other materials present in the first chapter of the campaign. Please proceed at your own discretion. Set-up & Gameplay

What Curators Say

Finally, there are four boxes labeled A, B, C and D. I’m not going to tell you what’s inside them, you’ll just have to find out for yourself. “What’s in the box?!” How Does It Play? And that seems to be the theme of this outing – value. While in previous games in the series, and indeed the core box, any powers that offered healing made things a little too easy, here there’s none of that. Instead, you’ve really got to be working on the market to upgrade your cards, and those of your allies. Because I found it very easy, I feel like I lost out on a lot of potential game. I never used the cool power that helps you in a re-fight, and I never saw probably half of the enemy cards. That’s not an exaggeration either. In a game that’s one shot and done, it’s a shame, even from the point of view of missing out on a lot of the artwork.

To do this, you adopt the power of the very breaches from which these extraplanar monstrosities appear, charging up powerful abilities and unleashing spells with unmatched potency. At least, that’s your goal at the beginning of the campaign. You begin as apprentices, far from the power level of master mages that seek to teach you. Through multiple chapters, players co-operate to defeat each new nemesis, harnessing new abilities and upgrading your equipment and supply cards to combat each new threat as it appears. For established Aeon’s End fanatics, there is a decent amount of content to keep you entertained. Terminology and difficulty are both turned down so it feels less exciting at first, but for the kind of value it offers I can’t begrudge it. The most exciting part for me has been the new Nemeses more than the cards, but there are some cards I would love to test further. The prospect of building your own mage to play with in other Aeon’s End games post-campaign excites me, and I relish the opportunity to try them in active combat once I’ve reached the end of the campaign. The players take the role of powerful mages who are tasked with the responsibility of preventing Gravehold from being overrun by hordes of creatures escaping from the breaches. Relics (8): Echo Rune, Electrum Rod, Martyr's Bone, Chaos Charm, Summoner's Horn, Void Anchor, Lightbringer Staff, Phoenix QuillI don't want to spoil all the powers and cards for you, but trust me, they're great. Every time you kill one of the Nameless and move on, you'll be given more supply cards to swap in. This is one of the most generous legacy games ever, there's no drip-feeding here. It almost feels wasteful at times, we haven't used all of the cards we were offered. Games are rated for how salty (competitive), tasty (replayable) and spicy (original) they are. The Salt For a long while, scripting was limited, as I am fairly disabled, and typing is difficult. My health has improved enough to finally add scripting to this thing, so, enjoy.

🙏 Aeon’s End: Outcasts continues the Expedition system that was introduced in Aeon’s End: New Age, which allows players to replay all of the content they own in a short campaign format. After each game, players will receive new treasures and player cards that allow them to become more powerful. However, the nemeses that players will face grow stronger and... I find myself at an awkward impasse with ending this review, so I’m going to summarise as best I can; Nálunk nem állnak bontatlan ül társasok nem bírjuk ki, hogy ne bontsuk ki őket legalább csak annyira, hogy az alkatrészeket le ne ellenőrizzük😆As we continued to move on, a new concept of evolve was introduced. While in theory this mechanic is awesome and throughout the game there were some cases where I liked how they used evolve, there were others that seemed odd. In one case, a card would evolve just from not eliminating it and it having time to grow. This made thematic sense and it was cool to see the larvae turn into something bigger and grow. It added weight to my choices about what to focus on. There were some evolve cards however, which felt so generic and put a bad taste in my mouth immediately. When a card is flipped over and says, “If this is Chapter 4 evolve this card” it breaks the immersion. There are other ways that this could have been handled such as saying “if boss xyz was defeated then evolve this card”. This would give a flow and then when the new card came out the story would continue. Everything is sorted, and most of the setup is scripted. Just press the relevant buttons, drag the relevant bags, and away you go. The Card Randomizers are included if you wish to use those. This set adds a new gamemode, Outcast mode, which replaces Gravehold with an ally mage capable of casting custom abilities to help the players. Many keywords return from previous sets, including LINK and ATTACH, and there are more Treasures for expeditions.

Of the 12 hour Aeon’s End Legacy Campaign run, the breakdown was about – 66% gameplay, 8% following allowing the adventure story, 10% making upgrades and changes, 10% setup and dismantle, 2% me losing things / trying to find them and 4% breaks. (The longest break I took was 13 minutes at approximately 8 hours in where after a big loss I proclaimed “I just need a break”). This is one of the best cooperative games I've ever played, partly because it's tough. Every fight feels brutal, but not impossible. The Taste I really enjoyed Aeon’s End Legacy. I love how the game reveals new mechanics with each chapter, rather than swamp the player with everything at once. In a game where you can replay each fight ad infinitum it’s fine, but in a legacy game where losses can affect the game negatively, it’s a really good way to break new players in gently. The story also progresses with these changes, so thematically it’s very strong too. A játékot 2019-ben jelölték a Golden Geek Awards díjára Legjobb kátyajáték kategóriában, illetve szintén ebben az évben jelölték a Golden Geek Awards díjára is Legjobb kooperatív játék kategóriában. A társast, a bonyolultsága miatt, csak 14 éves kortól ajánljuk kipróbálni. Kooperatív jellegű, a játékmenet erősen épít a váltakozó képességek, a pakli tervezés, a kártya húzás, a váltakozó fázisok és a pakli építés mechanizmusokra.

Achilles: Legends Untold review — Not very legendary

This can be played with 1 – 4 players. I did it just myself, but I played with two mages whose names where “Walter” and “Donnie”. I just wanted to yell “you’re out of your element Donnie” often which I did. This is all a Big Lebowski reference for those unfamiliar. There are four different mages cards but this is just cosmetic, they all start the same and can all be customized in the 500 different ways or whatever ridiculous number was figured out by the designer for how much customization there is. By playing with 2, that means in a round of six turns, it was 2 each player and 2 nemesis. I've lived this, and it's awful. It's also brilliant. You might be sure you're all about to die, then in a few turns completely turn the tide of the battle. Which is exactly how a boss battle should feel!
