Description

The brighter open star clusters and nebulae such as the Orion, Lagoon, and Swan will look fantastic with half-decent skies. All other products have a 2-year manufacturer's warranty, which covers repairs or replacement in cases of defective components. Neither the CG-3 mount nor the AstroMaster’s focuser are heavy duty enough for astrophotography with a DSLR, though webcam planetary imaging is in theory possible with a 3x or 5x Barlow lens coupled to the optical tube.

The Celestron AstroMaster 130 EQ Reflector features all-glass optical elements, smooth operating steel tripod mountings with manual motion controls, and coated optics for enhanced image brightness and clarity. I’m still learning so for me, It is not a pinpoint accurate track as you would get with the computer aided trackers, I don't think I'll be taking any photo sequences to stack with this rig, but it does enable you to concentrate on your chosen object without having to perform repeated alterations to your orientation quite as often. Celestron’s patented StarSense® Technology makes it easier than ever to locate objects in the night sky, even if you’ve never used a telescope before. Since solar system objects like the Moon and planets move through the sky at different rates than deep-sky objects do, this gives you the ability to match the motor’s speed to the particular type of object you are observing.Saying all that, if I was to start again from scratch, knowing nothing as I did, then I would have gone with Rowans choice of a Skywatcher.

The Sky-Watcher 6” Traditional provides similar capabilities to the SkyLine 6 but with a true 2” focuser, allowing for the use of 2” eyepieces. That doesn’t necessarily mean this telescope is ideal for you; there are a few things to consider before you make a purchase. Celestron has been a leading manufacturer of professional quality telescopes for well over 50 years. Hi, I got an AM130EQ too, and the first thing I need to say is that for the money, I'm delighted that I got it because it confirmed for me that astronomy is a fantastic passtime and it got me hooked. Motor Drive -Turn your manual German equatorial mount into a tracking mount by adding the included RA motor drive to your telescope. You won't believe how easy it is to see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn with your AstroMaster 130EQ. First off, it will take up the RA slow-mo handle position, which means you can't manually adjust the RA if you fit the motor (unless someone can set me right on that).

In practical terms, an image viewed through an F/5 telescope will be four times brighter than that seen through an F/10 telescope. eyepieces (20mm and 10mm), StarPointer red dot finderscope, erect image diagonal, and free Starry Night astronomy software. I got the 'Astromaster accessory kit' and so far I have been able to see: Jupiter (bands and moons easily visible), Moon (amazing views of the craters), Mars (red disk, some surface visible when it was at opposition and there were stable skies), Saturn (beautiful; easy to see the rings and Titan), M13 (great globular cluster in Hercules), M57 (the ring nebula in Lyra), M81 + M82 (galaxies in Ursa Major), loads of double star sytems etc. TRACKING: Manual German equatorial mount with setting circles to accurately locate and track sky objects. You will constantly be adjusting the speed up and down, with your eye through the finder if you're trying to track anything. In addition to the 130mm, the AstroMaster EQ series includes two smaller Newtonians, a 76mm model and a 114mm model. ED stands for "extra-low dispersion," which refers to the composition and optical properties of the glass used for the lenses. The Celestron single-axis motor drive runs on a 9V battery, so there are no cords to get in the way. This model is a Newtonian reflector, which uses a primary and secondary mirror to project the image you’ll see up to the eyepiece. Discover the Moon and planets plus all the best deep sky objects like the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Pleiades Open Star Cluster, and more.

One of the most important factors in a telescope is its transmission—the percentage of light that reaches the focal plane. focuser is commendably constructed, with aluminum focusing knobs partially enveloped in rubber for improved grip and ease of use.

Even though the mount can be upgraded, there are many preferable telescopes if astrophotography is your goal. Following the six-month deferral period, Novuna Personal Finance will initiate a monthly direct debit payment for the remaining duration of the loan. The Celestron AstroMaster range of telescopes are a popular next step for those who are developing their interest in the cosmos and so investing money into the larger, higher powered scopes.
