Until fifteen minutes of hell completely destroys her life and leaves Becca questioning everything she's ever known. If you don't like books where the characters don't get together until the very last chapter or two, this may not be the book for you. But somehow – once I made my piece with that fact – the whole plot became actually pretty damn funny and I felt so sorry for Ryan at times (scratch that – it was really MOST of the time – he was such a nice person and really had the patience of a saint). Another review queried why it was that a heroine like Becca is actually likeable since she is entirely dense for most of the book. Well, BECCA if we were to poll how many times you have mentioned this, I think we would all agree that you do freaking care.

Becca decided years ago that he wasn't worth her time and nothing, NOTHING, is going to change her mind. I'd like to think that Canadians are generally pretty nice, but even the popular girls in school were nice enough to everyone. She goes somewhere, runs into Ryan and acts like a snot, then runs off and stews about their interaction.

I love that Doherty didn't mind writing a heroine who was sometimes selfish and self-absorbed just as much as she was kind and loyal. Becca and Ryan have an interesting relationship, they were once best friends but when Ryan shuns her at school it rips apart their friendship. I am sorry, I am way past high school times when you could be fascinated by this kind of people because you don't know better. Das Ryan Gefühle für sie hatte war zum einen ersichtlich und zum anderen einfach logisch bei der Geschichte. Janelle and Brittany haven't spoken since they were teen besties at summer camp; when they're accidentally reunited years later, they happily pick up where they left off, sharing vacations, the PTA, and their BFF daughters.I loved the love to hate relationship between them and the fact that they're used to be best friends is also a big positive. He's embarrassed and humiliated her at every opportunity to the point that she avoids him completely. He realizes he likes her when they reach the end of middle school/beginning of High School but instead of acting on his feelings, he turns away from her. I am sorry but I have no patience for shit books with shit messages that make young impressionable girls believe a boy like this belongs in a relationship with them and not to jail.

Meaning he gets drunk, dates a random girl and uses her, humiliates Becca and picks on her like a child, gets super mad at her for trivial stuff and SCREAMS at her.You need to treat people the way you want to be treated, and considering she treated everyone badly, it's no wonder the only person she worshiped would cheat on her.

Nevertheless its a great read for anyone who enjoys YA and I shall be keeping an eye out for the follow on book Four Years Later. Both books are about a completely oblivious girl who doesn't realize the hot, popular guy is SUPER into her. Even if only to try and wrap my brain around the fact that she really had literally NO IDEA what was going on. Two neighbours, who grew up as best friends, become enemies throughout highschool; even though the guy is desperately in love with her. He DARES say he would do nothing to hurt her, and then proceeds to tell the whole school she was cheated on.A nice guy, friendly, dreamy, star quarterback, and he was constantly trying to get Becca's attention.
