Description

After spending the day with all four lenses and trying them on for size, I will say there is not a huge difference between the options on the market currently. Testing on the same subjects and getting a good feel of their subtle differences ultimately showed me that all of these lenses serve a purpose depending on what you want to use them for. There is a very smooth electronic manual focus ring and this can be used in MF mode or in the DMF mode where MF can be used to actively over-ride AF. These functions are activated in the camera menus. Focusing is down to 0.24m, or 0.79 feet, a maximum magnification of 0.13x. Apart from the lens name engraved on the barrel, that is it. Small primes such as this could still benefit the user by having a distance and depth of field scale, enabling easy setting of hyperfocal distance, but sadly no room has been found to provide these. The upside is likely to be a more compact and more sophisticated optical construction is possible, along of course with AF. Despite having the largest minimum focal distance, I did find when wanting to get in closer that I was only a little bit further away when compared to the others. And that I was still able to get great shots even when I was closer in. The AR coating (anti-reflective) on the lens helped reduce the stray reflections hitting the lens when shooting in natural light and gave a good contrast.

Samyang AF 24-70mm F2.8 FE review | Digital Camera World

This lens has a dust and moisture resistant design that is sealed in seven different places which makes it well-suited to life in both the field and the studio. Samyang has HEAVY LoCA issues in the corners thru most of the zoom range until stopping down to f5.6 or slower close to the subject. It makes it easier to take various images such as food on tables or portraits with

In a nutshell, the zoom’s sharpness is very hard to fault and it’s also nicely contrasty without overdoing it. The sensor’s contribution notwithstanding, there’s great definition with lots of crisply-resolved detail. There’s real depth to the rendering too, and the smoothness of the transition from in-focus to out-of-focus is the mark of high quality optics.

Custom Mode Switch allows different settings to be used which can be defined via the Samyang Lens Station, available separately Starting with the native option from Sony. The G Master was what I would expect from a Sony lens and got the job done for my needs at the time. The autofocus functions worked the smoothest out of the 4 lenses which I put down to it being Sony's own native lens. This meant it worked great and was the most responsive. The 24-70mm lens is a good place to start looking if you are wanting a full-frame lens that will be able to cover a diverse variety of photography types. From the widest part of the lens at 24mm for Landscapes to the narrowest part of 70mm for Portraits. And the in-between for almost all types of photography. If you’re in the market for a ‘fast’ f/2.8 zoom, attractive bokeh is probably high on your agenda. The Samyang performs well in this respect, with a pretty tight depth of field at longer focal lengths and smooth rendering of defocused areas. Bokeh discs remain well-rounded when stopping down a little, adding to the attraction.

AF is fast accurate and silent both in photo and video, in burst mode the results are good with a hit rate of 75% the Sigma and Sony does much better in this area if you want the best option at similar price and are ready to sacrifice the 24mm , then the Sigma 28-70 F2.8 DG DN Contemporary is the best option at 50% of the weight Available separately, the Samyang Cine Kit for the lens includes focus gearing, follow focus and a tripod mount. He is also an encyclopedia when it comes to all manner of cameras, camera holsters and bags, flashguns, tripods and heads, printers, papers and inks, and just about anything imaging-related. Kể cả chụp ảnh chân dung ở tiêu cự hẹp nhất 70mm, khi sử dụng khẩu độ tối đa F2.8 sẽ mang đến những kích thước hình ảnh vượt trội, với bokeh tròn mịn.
