About this deal

After seeing the figure at Toy Fair back in February, I knew that this would like be an upgrade over the original Juggernaut build-a-figure from a couple of years ago for me. These stay in place well and sit so tightly that my half-blind eyes didn’t even notice the belt wasn’t latched until I was done with the majority of the review photos. I mean, I was already behind, and then I had three new waves arrive and I just keep getting in deeper and deeper!

Whatever the case, he’s fun to pose, especially without the soft hinges I had in my previous Bobby Drake figure. But, this second assortment is also bringing some major players and the Colossus BAF looks like he’s no slouch! Yes, the Thing is my all-time favorite Marvel character (and one of my favorite overall fictional characters), but Colossus (and Kitty) has been my X-Man numero uno for as far back as I can remember. The lack of belt and non-textured helmet were already speaking to my aesthetic preferences, but in midst of everything else that was revealed, I kind of passed over him as a modest upgrade to a figure that I already had and, for the most part, liked.

Update: One sad, final note: As I was putting my Toy Biz Colossus in the retirement tote, one of his arms snapped off again.A few paint splatters aside, this is a really solid release that gets me the Colossus I have always wanted, and a Juggernaut that is a serious improvement over the prior release. Magneto arrives sharing most of the body used for the Earth 616 Magneto packed in with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, and that’s to be expected. I’m tackling this wave in pairs, so I can get through it a bit faster, and that brings us to Iceman and Legion! Despite some issues, I really do like this figure, especially since I was sorry to see him omitted from the first wave. Juggernaut is HUGE (about the size of AoA Apocalypse and Venom) and Colossus is comparable to the Avengers Endgame War Machine or the Fantastic Four The Thing figure.

Not only does it look like his head might have shrunk a bit, but it seems unlikely he could get al that hair in there. Yes, it’s pretty tame in some respects, but there was no way Hasbro could have recreated some of the more memorable and trippy depictions we’ve seen in the comic panels. Both the Colossus and Juggernaut figures come with 2 alternate hands, allowing fans to create dynamic poses and imagine the Super Heroes battling one another or teaming up to defeat a common enemy. His look, powers, and overall personality have always appealed to me, and some of his most pivotal stories throughout the years have been some of my favorite comic reads ever.
