About this deal

So – along with her friends Norman and Ella – Lucy sets off on an unbelievable adventure into a topsy-turvy, back-to-front and inside-out new world… The world underneath her bed.

With no grown ups to enforce any rules, no school and no bedtime, chaos descends as the children of Whiffington town run wild. The plot gave me such Home Alone vibes that I literally fell in love with it from page one and couldn't put it down. Shane enjoys visiting art galleries, running and travelling and if possible he would spend countless hours gardening in his veggie patch. I quite liked Lucy, she was strong and brave and smart, but also showed that she was worried, that she was afraid (which I would also be, you don't know if the adults are safe and if you will ever see them back, not to mention the Creakers were pretty creepy).

Prvé prekvapko je hneď na obálke - ten chlapček je dievčatko :) ale inak výborná hrdinka, bude sa páčiť aj chlapcom, ktorí momentálne ťahajú v knižných hrdinoch za kratší koniec. So - along with her friends Norman and Ella - Lucy sets off on an unbelievable adventure into a topsy-turvy, back-to-front and inside-out new world . We started it at the beginning of the summer holidays and didn't read it much and then read the Christmasaurs also by Tom Fletcher. I did laugh out loud when two kids named Buzz and Buddy had taken their dad's car out for a drive (if you didn't know, Buzz and Buddy are Tom Fletcher's kids.

I could really feel Lucy’s fear of being without her mum and was genuinely worried for the kids’ fate! Consequently, the children embark on a rampage, causing havoc in houses and on the street, throwing toilet paper on trees, and creating a mess everywhere. This lends itself really well to having an adult read the story aloud to a child but is equally interesting if reading alone. A magical, mischievous adventure into an incredible new world, from Tom Fletcher, number-one-bestselling author of The Danger Gang and The Christmasaurus. But sadly, they also find out that food is quickly depleting, and that the fun is not as fun the next day.

Hopelijk heb je lef om dit boekje te lezen, ben je niet bang voor de ogen die loeren onder je bed, maar durf je net als Lucy de uitdaging aan, om op zoek te gaan waar de mama’ s en papa’s zijn. This story, helps children face their fears and learn to never judge a book by its cover; just because you’re different it doesn’t mean that you can’t be friends. Tom's books have been translated into 40 languages, and to date he has sold over 5 million copies of his books in the UK alone.

His debut novel, The Christmasaurus is currently being developed by The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey into an animated, feature-length movie with original songs written by Tom.Ik denk dat veel kinderen er zich zullen in herkennen en dat ze eigenlijk wel allemaal een Lucy willen zijn. Monsters under the bed are acknowledged as scary but the warm and humorous narrator of the story who introduces each chapter will make more nervous children feel they are in safe hands – and (spoiler alert) it all works out well in the end.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The vivid descriptions that work so well in The Christmasaurus triumph again, although this time reading about all of the foul stenches and dirty rubbish-loving tendencies of the Creakers in all of their putrid glory made me feel a bit queasy! Norman is eccentric, skilful and sweet and I was pleased to see a girl of colour in Ella, the sassiest six-year-old you will ever meet!He began working as an architectural illustrator and has worked as a graphic designer and now creates visual development art for animation productions and illustrates books. This was a fun story, about waste and how it can be better disposed of, but also of friendships and working together as a team. At times he addresses the reader directly including some little snippets between some of the chapters. picture book series and is one half of the author duo behind The Dinosaur that Pooped picture book series too, which has sold over 1. This is fun at first, but when children are free to run wild someone needs to step up, an unlikely hero and thats when Lucy discovers the Creakers under her bed.
