About this deal

Rand feels saidin being woven just before lightning topples the watchtower with them on it, crushing several of the Maidens. Normally, this would just make me kind of sad but it's enraging and annoying in just how stupidly frequent it is.

Gareth Bryne, having tracked Siuan all the way to Salidar, is talked into gathering an army for the Salidar Aes Sedai.

and after meeting up with Siuan Sanche and Leane (former Amyrlin and her Keeper, both deposed and stilled / cut off from the magic) Nynaeve immediately starts thinking “i can heal stilling” - which is a perfectly normal thing for Nynaeve to think and a completely bug nuts insane thing for anyone else in the world to truly comprehend because it is Just Not Done. Lightning bolts triggered by Rahvin kill Mat, Asmodean and Aviendha, which causes Rand to recklessly attack the Forsaken. I would not stand in front of one of Cerandin's s'redit if it charged, either, and neither is cowardice. When we first see Elayne and her crew, they are slowly travelling from Tanchico to Tar Valon to deliver the cuendillars they found.

Jordan deftly weaves details from previous books into this narrative and includes a glossary so that new readers can pick up the saga at this point. Moiraine crawls out from under the wagon to see Rand suffering and Lanfear in the wagon with the Twisted redstone doorframe behind her. My favorite part of the novel, of course, was when Egwene knocked her down a notch while in Tel’aran’rhiod. But all should beware: the few months covered here suggest it may be years and many more volumes before this series reaches its conclusion. The seventh volume of Jordan's bestselling high fantasy series carries on the tradition of colossal, dauntingly complex storytelling established by the previous entries (Lord of Chaos, 1994, etc. I can’t put up with it for long, especially when it’s from Nynaeve, Elayne, or Egwene’s POV (Egwene wasn’t too bad this time around probably because we didn’t read from her POV much). Nynaeve pretends to beg, getting closer to Moghedien until she can picture an a’dam around the Forsaken’s neck. In my review of the fourth book in Robert Jordan's extraordinarily-long The Wheel of Time series, I said that the next entry, Fires of Heaven, would essentially make or break my interest in continuing this series. Into the Amyrlin's study in the White Tower, where the Amyrlin, Flaida do Avriny a'Roihan, is weaving new plans.

There's a certain rhythm to reading that's lost when you're reading a ~1,000-page entry in a 14-book behemoth. To protect Rand, Moiraine charges Lanfear while wielding the Power and pushes her through the twisted portal-like ter’angreal.Because whatever the Prophecy of the Dragon said, he was sure the only chance he had of winning Tarman Gai'don lay in having all three of them, three ta'veren who had been tied together since infancy, tied together once more. The Forsaken, immortal servants of the shadow, weave their snares and tighten their grip upon the realms of men, sure in the knowledge that their master will soon break free . I will be putting my head in a noose, and every man who follows along with me, and should you decide half a year from now that Elaida as Amyrlin is preferable to war, you will pull that noose tight for everyone of us who can be hunted down. You can, though, see his effects on the Two Rivers during various scenes in Tel'aran'rhiod where evidence is clear of homes are being rebuilt after the Trolloc raids, along with new homes.
