About this deal

The music itself is a far cry from the visual design choices of Giger, which will have ultimately been given the nod by Harry and her team. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. In addition to his photos, the book contains video stills and notes, Polaroids, and sketches from Giger’s archive.

It’s a unique chronicle of a unique event and a glimpse into the creativity of two icons of the 1970s and 1980s. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. One of my fave music acts is Debbie Harry/Blondie and I really love Debbie's solo album Koo Koo which Giger also was involved with visually, so this book was a must for me with a load of rare and previously unseen photos and background story of Debbie's look while making this great album.Bring inspiration into your lifestyle with Proud Galleries, we have the largest collection of authenticated, hand signed, estate embossed, limited edition and vintage photography. His strange, enigmatic artworks are a combination of industrial stylistics and apocalyptic vision of the future. Though he didn’t know the group–Giger preferred to listen to jazz–he agreed to the cover and to the promo videos, even directing when the original director didn’t show. Blondie co-founder, guitarist, producer, photographer and co-host of cult cable show TV Party, Chris Stein began shooting in 1968 and hasn’t put the camera down since. Giger noted the meeting and once said: “There I was introduced to a very beautiful woman, Debbie Harry, the singer of the group Blondie, and her boyfriend, Chris Stein.

Blondie guitarist Chris Stein, who is also a photographer, captured the process and has been holding onto his behind-the-scenes photos for decades. Chris Stein adds to his 21st Century work as a coffee table book author and a rock and roll photographer of the 70s and 80s and beyond Rare photos of the process of making Koo Koos album artwork and videos plus sessions that didn't make it to public attention. R. Giger, who had worked in the design department for Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Alien was chosen to work on the promotional material for Harry’s debut solo record, including the covert art and the music videos for the album tracks, ‘Backfired’ and ‘Now I Know You Know’.By 1964 he was producing his first artworks, mostly ink drawings and oil paintings, resulting in his first solo exhibition in 1966, followed by the publication and world-wide distribution of his first poster edition in 1969. Of all the poster-image icons of the 20th Century, perhaps few are as recognisable as Blondie’s Debbie Harry. With is second book Point of View: Me, New York City and the Punk Scene (Rizzoli), Stein expands upon that highly praised collection, which offered a unique, behind-the-scenes look at Blondie and its milieu. Giger had been the set designer on the film, creating a series of erotic and symbolic images that were at once both terrifying and strangely beautiful.
