From what I can remember, it was about a little girl who had a lot of sisters and one day she wanders off and finds a dragon. Books by Richard Scarry were revised over the course of their several editions, often to make them conform to changing social values. I’m looking for a book I suspect was written between 1920 and 1940; it was a chapter book about a family, with the main character being a young girl named Mary Ann/Mary Anne/Marianne, but known to all and sundry as Pigeon. I am looking for two books that I read from my middle school library, I read both around 1975 or earlier.

They travelled over the rainbow (I’m wondering if the book was Rebecca’s World by Terry Nation but I’m not sure).
