About this deal

Often cited as the greatest-ever jazz album, Kind Of Blue saw Miles Davis collaborate with John Coltrane, Julian "Cannonball" Adderley and Bill Evans amongst others.

In the edit page, go to the 'Metadata' tab and add your Juno artist, label or release page for listeners to purchase your release / releases.None of the musicians had played any of the tunes before heading into the first of two recording sessions in early spring of 1959. This album showcases Cooper’s theatricality, storytelling prowess, and ability to create an immersive world of horror and fantasy. Davis intentionally handpicked these musicians to comprise this particular cast, with everyone from former foil Evans to blues maestro Kelly to percussive genius Cobb interacting and reacting with peerless skill.

AAA 100% Analogue This LP was Remastered using Pure Analogue Components Only, from the Master Tapes through to the Cutting Head. One of the greatest albums of all time, back in on blue vinyl'Kind of Blue' is the now classic studio album by the legendary American jazz trumpeter Miles Davis, recorded in 1959 at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York City.

On Disc One, the five titles are presented intact: the first three numbers (“So What,” “Freddie Freeloader,” “Blue in Green”) that were cut on the first day of recording, two three-hour sessions on Monday, March 2, 1959; and the last two numbers (“All Blues,” “Flamenco Sketches”) recorded at the final three-hour session, Wednesday, April 22, 1959. Davis played trumpet sublime with his ensemble sextet featuring pianist Bill Evans, drummer Jimmy Cobb, bassist Paul Chambers, and saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley with Wyton Kelly playing piano on Freddy the Freeloader. The trumpet is shrill, the piano is present and adding some flavor, the percussion percusses, the bass is timely and chill.

If there are indeed only a handful of albums that marked their own times in the way that Kind of Blue did, there are even less which, 60 years later, continue to bear the same importance. As we set out to make our UHQR series the world’s best-sounding vinyl records, we have also used Clarity Vinyl, which is free of any carbon black pigment which might introduce surface noise. The five completed tracks from that session with producer Cal Lampley – “On Green Dolphin Street,” “Fran-Dance” (with an alternate take), “Stella by Starlight,” and “Love for Sale” – are the only other studio recordings of the sextet with Adderley, Coltrane, Evans, Chambers, and Cobb (though live recordings exist on other Columbia/ Legacy album releases from the Newport Jazz Festival in July, and New York’s Plaza Hotel in September). Following the alternate take, there are “studio sequences” (ranging from 11 seconds to nearly two minutes) for every one of the five titles, and one “false start” (for “Freddie Freeloader”).That may not mean it's the greatest jazz album ever made, but it certainly is a universally acknowledged standard of excellence. It’s one of those that just hangs in your head when you’re trying to sleep after a night of drinking and is still hanging when you have a hangover.

If I had any one complaint, it’s that the bass lacks a little definition, it’s a little boomy, if that makes sense. together with Quality Record Pressings, is putting Kind of Blue where it belongs: the Ultra High Quality Record (UHQR) pressed on Clarity Vinyl on a manual Finebilt press with attention paid to every single detail of every single record. Close your eyes and, no matter how many times you may have heard it before, your experience will parallel that of the players that recorded these gems. I wonder if my neighbors are growing concerned about me now that I’ve listened to the same album 4 times in a row. As Evans said in the original liner notes for the record, the band did not play through any of these pieces prior to recording.Winner of the 2018 Blues Music Awards Acoustic Album of the Year Nominated for the 2018 Blues Blast Music Awards Acoustic Blues Album of the Year Hi-Fi News Top Audiophile Vinyl Album of 2019!
