About this deal

I won’t gas on and on about what the 66 Batman TV Series meant to me, as I already did that in the above referenced review. For instance, the rear of the Batmobile has two molded “parachute” blocks, but they blend in with the black on the rest of the car. We will introduce you exclusively to Newpay finance products provided by NewDay Limited under this Introducer Appointed Representative arrangement. They have little notches toward the top that can fit over the edges of the diorama backdrop, but even then they’re really loose and fall over easily.

Personally, it’s second only to the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman film, but even then it’s a very, very close race. When trouble strikes, BRUCE and DICK become the heroic BATMAN™ and ROBIN™, a secret known only to their dutiful butler, ALFRED PENNYWORTH™. Much like Batman, it is also a great representation of Burt Ward’s Robin, even if this likeness is a little more “general young guy” than “definitely Burt Ward” in the finish.

This means they won’t snap or break easily, which is great considering how thin and delicate they are, but that also makes them pretty easy to warp. His costume just looks so damn on point with some wonderful sculpting flares like the tops of his boots and the fasteners running down the center of his tunic. Batman and Robin have many gadgets in their arsenal, but none more hi-tech and stylish than the Batmobile—ready to power on with the touch of a button. You get a subdued black plastic sheen on the body with the right amount of red trim and the bat emblems printed on the doors. There is absolutely no question that the Batmobile in general is the coolest car ever created, and George Barris’ iconic and incredibly memorable take for the Sixties television series is perhaps the most beloved of the lot. It would have been a nice touch had his legs been a slightly different shade than the rest of his skin, to emulate the sheer leggings that Ward wore in the role, but that’s a minor nit to pick. This is awful packaging and it should be outlawed by the Hague Convention on the Just and Humane Treatment of Toys. There’s Retro 66 Batman, DC Multiverse, Warhammer 40k… I mean, holy crap I really went ham on these lines in 2024.

The way his domino mask looks like it’s actually sculpted onto the head with the eyes fully sculpted and painted behind it just looks superb. The backside has the sculpted parachute pouches, which is a great touch, but that turbine is just itching for a flame effect part that wasn’t included. I already dipped into the Retro 66 Batman pool a short while ago with a look at Boxing Batman and Riddler, but today I’m going to go back to basics by checking out the Dynamic Duo and their bitchin ride. For a trip down nostalgia lane, bring your favorite Caped Crusader and Boy Wonder, and any other McFarlane Toys Batman 66 figures in for all the action! But until that day arrives, when the services of the Dynamic Duo are no longer required, they will be there to fight evil in all its forms.Batman and Robin have many gadgets in their arsenal, but none more hi-tech and stylish than the Batmobile-ready to power on with the touch of a button. When the Dynamic Duo find themselves faced with imminent danger, laser beams, magnets, and a parachute jettison button become quite useful. As for accessories, you get comic-style punching effects that clip onto the figure’s wrists, just like we saw with the Boxing figures.

Knowing what I was getting going in, I’m not at all sorry I picked it up, but if you do already own the Mattel version, you may want to give this one a pass! Obviously the articulation is more limited, but I think the sculpts and coloring are either on par or in some cases better. I have so much McFarlane stuff to look at, it’s really going to have to become a semi-weekly thing next year. The arms have rotating hinges in the shoulders, single hinges in the elbows, and rotatin in the wrists. So, here’s where that retro moniker really works as an all-excuses pass, because the scaling here really is pretty close to the scaling between MEGO’s vintage Batmobile and the figures in the line. All crimefighters need a place to rest their head, and Batman’s Batcave is no doubt the best in all of popular culture. The color of the cowl should have probably been a little more purple than blue, and it’s not a perfect likeness of West, but it still looks great from head to toe. Like the Batmobile, there’s mercifully very little assembly required, as almost every piece comes ready to use out of the box. It’s understandable, but there are lots of potential problems when you consider the open packaging and the possibility of them warping.
