The Aberlour distillery in Speyside provides a wealth of whiskies to choose from. With both ex-Sherry and ex-Bourbon cask whiskies, and different lengths of ageing, you can select the perfect product for you or for someone you're buying a gift for. If we decide not to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms, such decision shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Instead of the dark, dried fruit and nutty notes characteristic of sherry cask maturation, however, A’bunadh Alba offers distinctive green fruit notes of sweet baked apple and pepper along with fresh citrus zest.

The Aberlour, going by the notes in my wee notebook I kept in the first year, was visceral and monumental, yet the notes section was pretty vague. The energy was there, but the experience clearly wasn't. The name a'bunadh is described as the Scottish Gaelic for ''the original', [3] though is possibly a misspelling of am bunadh, meaning ' the origin'. Like its namesake sibling, Alba is also bottled as a NAS at cask strength, without the addition of any color or the use of chill filtering. The distillery cite the story during distillery tours that when the second pair of stills were put in during 1975, a time capsule was discovered behind the name plate, containing an 1898 newspaper about the distillery fire wrapped around an 1898 bottle of Aberlour. The workmen who discovered the bottle polished off four fifths of the bottle during their lunch break, but the remains of the bottle went off to the laboratories in Keith, Moray, and were analysed. A'bunadh is an attempt to recreate this single malt.
