He thinks for a while, chewing the end of his pen. ‘Pizza is like a soft, warm bed,' he writes, and I smile.

I'm so strong! Nobody hurts me. Nobody can hurt me. This is my game and I didn't do anything wrong and I'm just trying to help and it's not my fault, I didn't do anything, they hurt me, and I hate this." Enter Teeth, a.k.a. fishboy. He is a half-teenage boy, half-fish. He swims around the waters of the island, protecting the magic Enki fish. He also can't breathe underwater, and he speaks good English, but sometimes replaces words he doesn't know with "whatever". As the book mentions, it's all about sacrificing for someone else what you would *never* sacrifice for yourself. What a powerful read, really. Teeth belongs to the stories that you need to discover for yourself, where nothing is better than starting almost blind, that's why this review is going to be short, plot wise, at least. Quello che ho trovato, e non ho apprezzato, e mi ha rallentato la lettura rendendola faticosa e non particolarmente gradita, è l’eccesso di storie e di storytelling, che si traduce in un eccesso di lunghezza (tante, troppe pagine). My thoughts exactly. Do you know the kind of book which has the power to affect you so much that you spend your night tossing and turning in your bed? Well, welcome to my last night. I mean, God, her writing . . . That is the number one reason I want to own and devour every one of her books. The two words I can use to describe her writing are raw and real. Even if this book is about magic fish and a boy who happens to have scales and a tail fin, it still felt so real, as if I were reading a contemporary novel. The characters are across-the-board awful. There is no redemption here. If this is a character study it’s a character study of someone extremely boring and one-dimensional. I’m queer, I have a (now 21 yo) son who was difficult, I know what it means to feel ambivalent often about raising a boy and the intricacies of queer parenthood, and almost none of this seems believable. Not because motherhood is less sentimental than most other books would have you believe but bc it is SO not sentimental that not a bit of Sammie’s ambivalence felt like it had anything new to say.

do you enjoy the prose stylizings and authorial wit of David Foster Wallace? Then there might be something similar in style and tone in this book for you. Can you write a simile?' I ask him. ‘If you had to compare pizza to something, what would you compare it to?' How long are people willing to ignore the things that happen around them, to people around them, before they finally react to it? How long will you let something repeat and repeat before you choose to do something about it, with knowledge you could have stopped it?

We lay in the wet grass in the park, catching stars on the ends of our eyelashes. My new friends said things like, 'This park has a bad heart,' or 'the sky is falling down,' and I knew what they meant, lacing my fingers through theirs and running through the lavender dawn, our long coats flying out behind us.' ha hahahahahahaaaa hahaaaaa haa what There are a few ways how you can prepare your child for the first visit, read about them here. Reading to your child about going to the dentist and taking care of teeth will help them prepare for their visit, reduce any anxiety they may have about an unfamiliar situation, and boost confidence. I will say that something doesn’t sit right with me about the portrayal of Samson & his behavior, & we don’t really get a lot of answers about it. But overall, I was completely captivated by this story. If you can handle messiness & Uncut Gems-levels of stress, give this one a go.

Three main characters are Rudy, Diana and Teeth. Rudy and Diana are human, but Teeth, aka, the fishboy - is a merman and he "isn't supposed to exist" - because mermaids are mythological creatures. It's kind of in it's own special category. There are no books I can really compare to this. It doesn't follow the rules and really, there shouldn't be rules when it comes to fiction! I love this woman for writing this crazy, magical, yummy treat of a book. Thank goodness for your enviable imagination.

A fantastic book that shows the whole family going to the dentist and is a great introduction to the Tooth Fairy. Teeth is just as much of a complex character as Rudy. Being abandoned by his mother at four years old because he turned into a fishboy, Teeth now hates humans. He hates the fishermen that come to kill his siblings & he hates the humans that attempt to bond with him- only to push him away. Teeth's emotional damage is intensified when he reveals he has been repeatably raped. Desperate to get out off the island, but harboring his own feelings of guilt & shame, there's nothing left to do but find some sort of solace in the companionship of Rudy. Children's first experiences of EYFS oral health can have an influence on their dental hygiene for the rest of their lives. That's why it's so important to teach them oral health in the early years and encourage them to establish good habits as soon as possible. The aspect of the book I admired most was its focus on family. Both the Iqbal and Jones clans are dysfunctional in their own way - obstacles such as marital infidelity and fundamentalism serve to threaten the family unit. Continents may divide them, conflicting ideologies might drive them apart but there is a familial bond that will never break and an unconditional love for one another that will always exist (even though they may be slow to admit this at times).
