About this deal

By all accounts, Cate and Aiden Gascoigne should have been charred corpses when their car crashes into a ravine in rural Surrey and bursts into flames. However, when investigators eventually manage to reach the vehicle, it is found empty. With I Am Missing, the story has a somewhat different feel to it. The story has the clear David Raker feel to it, yet it unravels in a completely different way to the rest of the series. In fact, it is as though this story occurs in reverse. We have the person, but their past is missing. I love amnesia stories, as I’m sure many people do, and this one is certainly one for the books. Sometimes amnesia can be poorly dealt with, but Tim Weaver tells a wonderful tale whilst dealing with the topic in a sensitive manner. It really is all you could hope for from a Tim Weaver book. So, just to be straight! I love this author and his books and his storytelling, its unique, perceptive and exciting However, with evidence disappearing and witnesses dying, David soon realises he’s up against an adversary who always seems to be one step ahead of him. Putting not only his own life in danger, but also that of his closest ally, former Met. Officer Colm Healy – a man most presume is dead. The story is set in two timelines. The time before and what led her up to her present predicament. And Detective Frank Travis who is dealing with cold cases which involves searching for Rebekah and her brother Johnny. I liked main character, and she came alive for me. The setting and description were done well too. Here are some lines I loved: An Interview with Tim Weaver". The Darley Anderson Blog. 1 August 2012 . Retrieved 1 September 2013.

There's some twists and turns in this little story! Not sure if I got them all, but then that's me and when they start talking about DNA and mental health issues I did get a bit lost but then it did make me think more about the missing man himself and the confusion he must have felt at the start of the book. Since, there are 9 missing people, there are many other side characters involved related to them. Before you know it, the story gets very complex, and you lose yourself in it trying to make sense of it. Overall, I thought it was all a bit OTT, and I failed totally to connect with the main character. I could not follow his thought processes, could not understand why he made the decisions he did. What neither Rebekah nor Detective Travis realize is that each holds a missing piece from the same puzzle - and it will cost them everything to finally solve it . . . I found the characters drawn out in this story credible, good and often excellent. Tim Weaver's writing is so good it makes reading both simple and compelling. I found the last 25% or so of the book very hard indeed to put down.I am a relatively new reader of this author after I requested the previous book in this series without realising it was part of an ongoing series.
