About this deal

In a nutshell, I'd say that this is a machine which has a similar compact footprint to the Brera and the Naviglio, but while bringing more in terms of features, with more grind settings & more strength settings.

If you like a foamy cappuccino or latte, you can control the foam with just one button. The frother has several options to control your beverage foam. I wasn't expecting a lot from this machine, to be honest, I thought it was just going to be another entry level 15 bar pressurised portafilter espresso machine. I was wrong! The integrated milk carafe makes a perfect milk froth, always at the right temperature to make flawless cappuccinos and other milk-based drinks. Moreover, it can be stored in the fridge after using it. The professional steam wand is perfect for the ones who want to relive the barista rituals at home. A true professional experience that will give you surprising in-cup results. Moreover, it also dispenses hot water for teas and infusions I’d really like it if it did like 15ml shots and/or 18g shots. As it is, I do double 30ml/11.g shots for most milk drinks to get the strength.Gaggia Direct, however, are in the process of creating a drip tray extension, which works as an optional upgrade, you use it as the base and it gives you the kind of drip tray capacity you'd probably expect from a machine of this calibre. It’s not often I come across an automatic espresso machine at this price point that uses so much stainless steel in its construction; although I’m not necessarily surprised. After all, Gaggia machines have a reputation for being rugged and durable. Wait, did I say there was only one true Gaggia home barista espresso machine? I lied ;-). OK, this is still the Classic Pro, but it's the limited edition “Acrobat” version. These are numbered limited edition versions carrying the special acrobat barista artwork. I believe there are a few of these left, and at this discounted price, personally, if I was buying a classic pro, I'd buy the Acrobat version. Set the length of your espresso via the MEMO function. For a traditional Italian espresso, set it to 30ml. Here’s the thing, though: the user interface is simple, intuitive and effective. I believe anyone could approach this machine without feeling intimidated or confused. There’s a lesson in there somewhere! Ceramic Grinder

This was until Mr. Gaggia cleverly flipped that into a positive, and coined the phrase “Crema” which was marketed as a positive byproduct of this new (at the time) espresso-making technology. This feature gives you the unique possibility to personalize the intensity and flavour of your espresso. Create a tailor-made result by choosing the quantity of ground coffee per cup among 5 selections. While I do think it's a case of the more the merrier with grind adjustments, I have to be honest and say that it probably isn't going to make a huge difference re the 5 settings vs 10. As I mentioned at the beginning of this Gaggia Velasca Prestige review, this machine is loaded with cool features that really set it apart from the competition.

Gaggia Velasca Prestige Overview

The downside is that you can't change the amount of coffee ground, which is 10 grams. So you could set the single shot button to a 1:2 ratio, 10 grams of ground coffee to 20ml of espresso, and set the other to a one to three, for example, to 30ml (via brew scales, or a measured glass). But if you wanted a double shot, for instance, 20 grams of ground coffee to 40 ml of espresso, you'd need to pull two shots. So I suppose my question summed up would be…. Does the Gaggia Anima Deluxe provide the same ability to manually get the same Milk froth results as the Gaggia Anima Barista Plus? Decalcification Needed' Indicator,Adjustable Coffee Dosage,Adjustable Coffee Strength,Bypass Doser,Cup Volume Control,Digital Display,Low-Water Warning,Pre-Infusion,Programmable Brewing This is the base level one-touch milk carafe version of the Anima, with a milk carafe to handle the milk. So instead of a steam wand or a cappuccinatore to deliver the milk, you put the milk in the carafe, slot this in, and the milk is taken from the carafe, frothed, and dispensed into your cup/glass. When I say “base level”– basically the body is all plastic on the Anima Class, while you get a brushed stainless steel front and top with the Anima Prestige, below. I would recommend all bean to cup coffee machine users experiment with the grind size, and I think most people will find that adjusting to the finest setting will usually produce the best results with most bean to cup machines. But if you're the kind of person who is going to spend time doing what's known as “dialing in” meaning to keep tweaking the grind setting until you get the perfect extraction, you wouldn't be looking at bean to cup, you'd be looking at the semi automatic manual espresso machines that I'll be talking about shortly.

Home barista espresso machines, also known as prosumer espresso machines, are basically commercial-grade espresso machines made for home use. Although they're made smaller, and (most of the time, but not always) cheaper, they use the same technology as commercial machines – to pull shots of espresso at 9 bars of pressure via standard filter baskets. With its large color screen and aroma intensity dial, the Accademia’s user interface is absolutely fantastic. You can also choose between an automatic milk system and a manual steam wand, making the Accademia a really versatile espresso machine. Domestic espresso machines also known as consumer espresso machines or simply as “cheap espresso machines” are made more for the “every day” coffee drinker, someone who just wants to spend a relatively small amount of money on a coffee machine, take it out of the box and start making coffee that they're happy with, straight away with little or no learning curve. This is actually a really clever feature that Gaggia don't talk that much about in a lot of their blurb. The Gaggia bean to cup machines have an inbuilt mechanism that allows them to detect the pressure required to auto tamp the coffee prior to pulling the shot, and the machines learn from this and apply this to the next shot. Simple espresso memory: Re-set volumes by simply pressing and holding the espresso or lungo button.

Frothing

The benefit of this, and the reason these are usually the best selling versions, is that they're one-touch machines, whereas the cappuccinatore machines require two button presses to make your coffee instead of one. The Gaggia Velasca Prestige keeps things simple, offering espresso, espresso lungo, cappuccino and milk froth at the touch of a button. Never fear, though, all these drinks can be customized. Simply hold down the button until Memo flashes on the screen, then press the button again once you’re satisfied with the volume of your drink. What could be easier than that? Aroma Intensity

Traditional espresso machines can actually be split into a few categories. Most espresso machines on the market these days are known as semi automatic traditional espresso machines, or “pump espresso machines”, and these kind of machines create the pressure via a pump, vs the fully manual espresso machines where a lever is pulled to activate a piston which creates the pressure.
