Araki, Hirohiko (2015) [2013]. "Chapter 14: Youth with Dio Part 3". JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 1—Phantom Blood. Vol.2. Translated by Galloway, Evan. San Francisco: Viz Media. pp.43–61. ISBN 978-1421578804. Joseph Joestar is the main lead for Battle Tendency. Unlike Jonathan, Joseph mainly relied on his wit to outsmart his enemies. Joseph's character is quite different from his predecessor as he knows when to run away from a difficult situation. However, Joseph knows how to honor a great fighter, and he showed it when he fought against Esidisi and Wamuu. He is the only character who has been shown using a Stand and Hamon. After receiving a letter from a dying Dario, George honors his "debt" by allowing Dario's son Dio Brando to live at the Joestar Mansion and accepts him unconditionally as a member of the family. During Dio's stay, George is easily deceived by Dio's superior manners and intelligence, which causes him to berate his own son Jonathan several times.

Phantom Blood was originally serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump under the title JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1 Jonathan Joestar: His Youth. It ran from January 1 to October 26, 1987, for a total of 44 chapters, and was later collected in five tankōbon volumes. [43] [44] [45] It was also collected in a three-volume bunkoban collection on February 15, 2002, [46] [47] [48] and a single volume sōshūhen edition in 2012. [49] Another three-volume collection with new cover art by Araki was released from December 4, 2013, to January 4, 2014, as part of the JoJonium line, along with the second and third part of the series, Battle Tendency and Stardust Crusaders. [50] [51] [52] This version was released in North America by Viz Media, beginning digitally in 2014 and in print in 2015. [53] A digitally colored version of the complete manga was released digitally for smartphones and tablet computers in Japan on July 13, 2012. [54]Defeat Means Friendship: His defeat of Speedwagon, his first enemy, and his decision to spare Speedwagon and his men earns him a loyal friendship that lasts over not just one but multiple generations of the Joestar family. Jorge is a witty individual with a fastidious personality trait. As a result, his room is very clean and he's solved a number of cases as a private detective. He is a bit of a narcissist, often referring to himself as a great detective and having that listed as his title on his business card. Jorge gets caught up in details, and if details don't add up right then he gets agitated and attempts to search for a better way to solve his problems. [1] Go Out with a Smile: As he dies from the wounds Dio inflicts on him, he smiles both at Erina and Dio himself.

Part 4 - Diamond is Unbreakable [ change | change source ] Koichi Hirose [ change | change source ] From the start of the planning of the manga, Araki intended to depict Dio as a "cool" character who descends into villainy. Thinking that it could be difficult to create an evil antagonist that readers would empathize with, Araki wrote Dio as coming from a poor family with a father "with no redeeming qualities whatsoever", giving Dio motivation to acquire power and get revenge on the world even if it led him to do immoral and illegal things. Araki also noted that a character who acts without regard for morals and laws can give readers a feeling of catharsis due to exhibiting the same "ugly feelings" people hold but cannot show, making Dio more easily relatable than a character who only does good. [40] Dio's name was taken directly from the Italian word for "god", and was chosen to sound good together with the name "JoJo". [41] George became a pilot for the British Air Force W during World War I W. During his service, he discovered that one of his superior officers was a zombie that had been created by Dio and had been living secretly in darkness for years. George went to confront him, but unfortunately, was not trained properly in the art of Ripple and died in the battle. His death was covered up as a flying accident. Lisa Lisa mourned his death, causing her to leave the house and kill the zombie officer with Ripple. Araki, Hirohiko (2017). Manga in Theory and Practice: The Craft of Creating Manga.
