About this deal

At a steady output of 20 lumens it will last up to four hours, while in the 10-lumen flash option it lasted 25 hours. The Lite Drive 1000XL has 8 different settings, including 4 continuous and 4 flashing modes. The most remarkable is the unique 1000 lumens strong 'daytime flash', which ensures good visibility during the day. Thanks to the different modes, you can adjust your brightness to your surroundings. When switched on, the memory function activates the last mode you used before turning it off. So you'll never have to search for your favourite mode again. The single top-mounted power switch changes colour to let you know how much power is remaining, while the side fins help to keep it cool. The Lite Drive has a tough CNC-machined aluminium construction, which is claimed to be imperviousness to water. Its IXP7 rating means it can be submerged in water for half an hour and will retain its waterproofness – although I wouldn’t recommend doing that. The CNC machined aluminium body looks quality and makes the light look way more expensive then it actually is. It's available in a range of anodised colours too, so you can achieve a bit of coordination with your bike.

For the size of the light the run-times are pretty impressive, often over-achieving not just hitting the targets, in use. Lezyne combines the best head- and rear lights and offers them paired. Powerful combinations with the best of both lights bundled. This ensures a great performance, makes choosing a head- ánd rear light easy and saves you money. The offered pairs are always cheaper then buying the LED’s loose. The button changes colour as your charge runs down, eventually going red when you've got 10% of power remaining. In 99% of cases, you'll get home on red. Charging I tend to use both lights in "race mode" after dark, but in the daytime in the normal setup so I can use the pulse mode for additional visibility as needed. This is a sinusoidal "flash" that doesn't blow people's eyeballs out. I get migraines from sudden strobing flashes, so I do not use the daytime flash modes unless I believe my life is in danger. At dusk, I begin on the low-power femto/economy mode until it gets dark enough, then put it in race mode. The beam shape isn't anything particularly special – it's basically round, and a little narrower than some – but it's throwing out plenty of light for the money, and you can deal with more or less anything in Overdrive mode.

Connect Smart 1000XL A powerful, multi-purpose front light with up to 1000 lumens of output. Its machined aluminium body is lightweight, super rugged and heat dissipating. It features eight output modes, with a class-leading 1000 lumen Daytime Flash mode. With its MOR (Maximum Optical Reflection) lens, light output is optimized and evenly dispersed. And its versatile strap securely mounts to variety of bar shapes and sizes. When you normally turn ON or turn O FF a Lezynelight, you hold the button down for 2 seconds. If you hold the button down for 5 seconds from OFF, it will enter Overdrive Race Mode. The light will confirm by flashing the LED while the button is held down. This means that all flashing modes are removed from the cycle of modes, and it will only toggle between the highest steady setting and the lowest steady setting. To leave this mode you can hold the button down for 5 seconds (from OFF) again, until the light confirms by flashing.

Mounting the Lezyne to the handlebar is taken care of by a rubber band, and it gives you plenty of options for varying diameters of tubing. Switch to Economy, though, and it just isn't bright enough to see where you're going. If it was the 500lm Blast combined with Overdrive it would be spot on, and you'd be able to use it like the high/dipped beam of the Ravemen PR1600. Mount

Cons: Could do with better mode grouping; I prefer a proper handlebar clamp to keep the light secure The next setting is Blast (500lm/3hrs), then Enduro (250lm/5.5hrs), Economy (150lm/19hrs) and Femto (15ml/87hrs), which finishes off the solid options.

The Lezyne Lite Drive 1000XL is a front bicycle lamp made of premium aluminium housing material. It uses highly efficient LED bulb type for maximum luminous flux of 1000 lm, providing excellent visibility during day or night cycling. The lamp comes with a long-lasting rechargeable battery that can last up to a maximum of 87 hours, and it requires only four hours to fully recharge via USB charging.A powerful, multi-purpose front light with up to 1000 lumens of output, the Connect Smart 1000XL features a lightweight yet rugged CNC-machined aluminum body with integrated cooling fins. The light has 8 different output modes, from an attention-grabbing 1000 lumen Daytime Flash setting to an 87 hour runtime Femto Mode, providing options for every riding environment. It’s MOR (Maximum Optical Reflection) lens optimizes and evenly disperses light. A versatile strap securely mounts to a variety of bar shapes and sizes. USB rechargeable battery complete with charging cable means you do not have to buy batteries again. The light flashes blue when you're in race mode and green when you're in standard, and you just hold it down for a few seconds when you turn it on to change between the two.

All Lezyne LED-lights run on batteries. They are all rechargeable, some of the batteries are build-in and some can be removed/replaced. All batteries can be bought in the shop. The 150-lumen Economy mode isn't really bright enough to see much by; that's the one that Lezyne uses as the 'low' mode in the Race configuration – where you just get high and low beam – of the standard light, and because of that the Race mode isn't as practical as it could be. The joy of the smart set is that you can set up your own Race mode with whatever settings you want. In practice, I found that plugging the light into a laptop meant I had to bend it awkwardly or dangle it vulnerably over the edge of a desk whilst inserting into a wall mounted version meant the second USB port (which I wanted to use for the front beam) was covered. You get at least 100 minutes out of overdrive and 10 hours on economy, plus a massive 78 hours from the 15-lumen femto setting.
