About this deal

Moving to a dedicated phono stage offers a nice upgrade path. With a Cambridge Audio Duo connected, the bass firmed up and the upper registers came into a clearer focus. I haven't heard the Schitt Mani but it doesn't seem unreasonable to spend the same as the Audio-Technica again on a good phono preamp -- especially when the AT already gives you so much turntable for so little. Easy like Sunday morning USB Function: PC or Mac with an available USB port (USB1.1 or higher) Windows 7 or above, or Mac OS X or above This is by no means the worst entry-level turntable we’ve heard, but sadly it doesn’t quite reach the standard of many previous Audio-Technica attempts. Again, this is a more refined looking turntable, so the front panel buttons are now circular and a bit more recessed into the panel itself. To me, it gives off a less showy and cheap vibe and more of a classy visual appeal. It’s in no way a big deal in the long run, but visually, I much prefer the look of the LP60X. The AT-LP60X is a great entry-level turntable that punches far above its weight class. It basically has no competition in its exact price range. It is fully automatic and easy to use. Considered the affordable price, it sounds very good, also in Bluetooth operation.

Three stars may appear harsh for a budget product offering so much in the way of functionality. If you were buying it based on price and features alone, it would be good value for money, but the AT-LP60XBT just falls short of our being able to recommend it to those semi-serious about their vinyl. If you’re looking for the Too Long Didn’t Read (TLDR) version of my review, here it is: The Audio Technica AT-LP60X is a great turntable for entry-level vinyl enthusiasts. The AT-LP60XBT is fitted with a switchable phono stage, which pre-amplifies the feeble signal output from a turntable up to a level where it can be dealt with by any line-level input on an amplifier. If your amplifier is well specified enough to include a phono input, though, the XBT’s phono stage can be turned off. Two powered speakers that will be great companions for the AT-LP60X are the Audioengine A5 Plus and the Edifier S1000DB.And I think you will need speakers that are many times more expensive than the AT-LP60X before the turntable becomes the weak link in the system. TWO SPEEDS: The LP60X can play both 33 rpm and 45 rpm records. A simple switch allows you to choose the turntable speed and the record size. Includes: detachable RCA output cable (3.5 mm male to dual RCA male), 45 RPM adapter, and removable hinged dust cover If you want something cheaper, then the Edifier R1280DB is a great option. They won’t sound as good as the two more expensive recommendations above, but they are the best budget powered speakers that I know of.With the AT-LP60XUSB fully automatic belt-drive turntable you can experience your vinyl’s high-fidelity audio directly or convert it to digital. The AT-LP60XUSB plays both 33-1/3 and 45 RPM records and is equipped with a USB output that allows direct connection to your computer. What’s nice, too, is that Audio-Technica gives you the option to be able to play this turntable via a wired or wireless connection. So, on the days where maybe the bluetooth signal isn’t working, or maybe your entire Internet connection is down, you can still listen to you records by connecting your turntable directly to an amplifier or powered speakers. A/D, D/A: 16 bit, 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz selectable ; USB 2.0-compliant Windows 8.1 or above, or Mac OS X or above Powered speakers have the amplifier built-in and don’t need a separate amplifier or receiver. They are compact and easy to use.
