Well, there are several benefits, and they all revolve around the way you process and review information.

It is actually advisable that you just write down one or a two sentence summary of an entire section in your own words, so as to have a really better understanding of what you just read. Instead of simply reading the notes and hoping to remember them, with this method you have to use keywords to describe your notes, as well as creating questions to test yourself with later on. This almost makes the student become the teacher of the material to themselves, and being in this role is a highly effective way to remember information. For the time being, there is no general scientific consensus on the efficacy of Cornell note-taking. The Cornell note-taking method was first developed by Walter Pauk, director of Cornell University’s Reading and Study Skills Center. However, these studies were designed to evaluate note-taking in general. There is surprisingly little research on the efficacy of the Cornell system. And the studies that have been done have not always strongly supported its effectiveness. Cornell note-taking can give students an effectiveness in organization of thoughts that they have been taught and give a better review in recollecting all the information that they have learned.
