As far as acoustic amplifiers go, pricing is often easily inflated due to brand heritage and some companies just slapping their name on the amp and put the price up because it’s ‘acoustic’. It’s a perfect acoustic guitar to be used during practice, gigs, and small venue performances. And, at a price you can’t beat, people are excited to get one for themselves. But then there are a host of tone-shaping features to look out for that can save your tone on a day when, for example, you are playing with other musicians, and you need the EQ to brighten up your tone and help your fingerstyle pop through the mix. If you’ve got a smaller-bodied orchestra or parlour model then you could always dial in a little extra in the lower-mids to add depth to strummed chords. If you're looking for a battery-powered amp that will make your acoustic guitar and vocals stand out at any medium-sized venue (indoor and outdoor), I honestly believe the Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge is the best option. It offers the amazing sound quality of the Fishman Loudbox series (obviously not as full and loud as the larger Artist or Performer amps, but still surprisingly good for its size), with the added benefit of portability. The battery will easily last for a longer show (I've played it for 4 hours straight while busking and it still had plenty of juice). If you add the car charger to your shopping list, you could literally take this amp anywhere you want to go. The on-board effects can add some flavour to your sound, although it doesn't give you a lot of fine-tuning options. Combining this amp with some battery-powered pedals or mixers, however you could broaden your sound and even add more than two instruments to the mix.The Compact 60 is super-practical. Its birch-ply cabinet is boxy but compact and light enough to take on public transport, and it is ideal for stage or the studio.
