The Sore Throat Test and Treat service offers patients with sore throat symptoms to access clinical screening, clinical assessment and appropriate treatment from a community pharmacy. The service is provided by accredited pharmacists, and patients are advised to confirm availability before travelling to a specific pharmacy. They are still used for formulations of capsules, powders, ointments, topical creams, liquid formulations. A Career Pathway for Pharmacy Technicians is currently under development with the National Pharmacy Technician Group Scotland. This pathway will define the key stages of pharmacy technician development: NES Pharmacy supports Pharmacist Independent Prescribers (PIPs) both within their training period , in implementation of their training into practice once they have qualified and those returning to prescribing practice. We commission both Schools of Pharmacy in Scotland to organise and run Independent Prescriber courses each year. Pharmacists who practise in Scotland can also apply to NES Pharmacy for funding to undertake these courses. We provide support through clinical skills courses, teach and treat centres (in collaboration with health boards).This is all part of a bigger picture which will enable pharmacists to have a greater role in clinical care, enhanced recognition as experts in medicines and increased roles in public health and wellbeing. If you have had sex without using contraception, or you think your contraception has failed, you may be able to use Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC). Every consultation is private and confidential and will be in a private consultation room. Our fully trained and accredited Pharmacist will supply EHC when appropriate to clients in line with the requirements of a locally agreed Patient Group Direction (PGD).
