About this deal

Over the last couple of years, I have been quietly working on one other major project – I have been writing my ‘gaming autobiography’. Essentially, the story of my life in games, or perhaps how games have related to my life. It covers my earliest encounters with hobby gaming, the great games and game stores that influenced me, my immigration to Britain, working with Osprey, right up to the writing and publication of The Silver Bayonet. I have now finished the first draft of the manuscript and am slowly editing my way through it. It is the longest single work I have ever written. I don’t know what I’ll do with it once it’s finished, or if anyone will ever want to read it, but it has been an enjoyable exercise in self-reflection, nostalgia, game-philosophy, and writing in a different genre.

In a galaxy torn apart by the Last War, vast pirate fleets roam from system to system, robbing, extorting, and enslaving. Amidst this chaos, thousands of independent operators – smugglers, relic hunters, freedom fighters, and mercenaries – roam the dead stars in small ships, scratching out a living any way they can. What do you think of this frame? Let us know in the comments below. More Information about Stargrave If you are like me, what interested me the most about the preview images is the plastic sprues. What do they look like? What can I make with the Stargrave Crew plastic frames? Bombshell minis, who do really great sculpts for their game Counterblast. Retro 60-70’s sci-fi. I was very tempted but in the end wanted more modern scifi. These large robots are designed to kill. They have plenty of armour, health and will power. They also can’t be controlled by a character player.Well, here are pictures of the frames so you can figure out if they are something you like. A good close look at the Stargrave Crew plastic miniatures frame. Biggest of all, the positioning of loot has been reworked to prevent players handing themselves an easy win through shrewd – and cheap – placement tactics. Players take turns positioning loot tokens after terrain setup, but may only place tokens in their opponent’s half of the table. Frostgrave Gnoll with Stargrave arms, Stargrave trooper, female head Stargrave trooper, Stargrave trooper male head, Maelstrom's Edge arm, Maelstrom's Edge Broken with Stargrave arm What I like to do with my friends for Frostgrave is that we each bring over so many “creatures” for the game. We then combine the collection and essentially make our own encounter list from those figures. I anticipate doing the same for Stargrave.

Another entry also in the Random Encounters table. As the name suggests. A Bounty Hunter. Typically armed with a Carbine, Hand Weapon and Heavy Armour.

It seems like 3d printing is going to solve my problem, there are fantastic models available on myminifactory for instance. I didn’t really want to open that can of worms, but sounds like it really is the best option for me. A well armed soldier with a basic amount of training. They carry Carbines, have Heavy Armour and carry a knife too. In many games, we roll dice in to see which miniatures come in from a collection of 6 to 12 random monsters. The same could be done with Stargrave easily. Now, as a last step, I just need to organize their dedication transportation. No, not a ship - they've already got a Tardis. I mean a dedicated figure case! One specific polystyrene kit by warlord games, the Domari squad who are definitely-not-fremen. I do worry however that the scale might be too small are AFAIK warlords do true 28mm. The rest of their range don’t look all that great however.

The sad truth is that I now write games faster than I paint miniatures for games! That's because writing games falls into the more protected 'work time' while painting generally falls into the scarcer 'relax time'. That said, at long last, I have finished my Time Lord Stargrave Crew! The answer to that is easy. Use whatever miniatures you have. That said, many of us want to expand our ranges or choose the closest miniatures that match the rules. As such, it certainly won’t hurt to know what creatures and aliens are in this book. In this post, I am going to go over that with you. Inspiration doesn’t have to come from sci-fi, and when someone suggested this idea to me it absolutely had to be included. The nine members of the fellowship from The Lord of the Rings…. but in space!

This post is all about assembling your crew for Stargrave. I am not sure about you, but whenever I get a new rulebook, I like to flip through it to see how it will work with the minis I already own. In this post, I planned to tell you exactly what type of Captains and First Mates you can build for this game. On top of that, I intended to inform you on what type of figures you could expect to use for the game.
