About this deal

I was born into a family that struggles with abusing alcohol. Generations of struggles from grandpas to great uncles to parents and husbands. Alcohol used to revolve around every activity that we ever participated in! Work events, traveling, meals, events, picnics - alcohol was everywhere and hard to stay away from. Why you need to reframe the idea of 'giving up' – and how doing so will make all the difference to your success I have an in-depth chat with Ben about corporate culture and how they largely ignore people with addictions (myself included) yet they are willing to help those who state they have a mental illness. Was helpful as an inspiring story of how the author turned his life around and enjoyed the conversational tone of the book. I speak with the amazing Olivia this week as we discuss growing up, getting sober and how battling our demons was the best life choice that we made.

I have found so many quotes and facts that resonate so personally which makes it even more enjoyable to read. If the idea of giving up alcohol sounds like a sacrifice, think about what you're giving up instead. Quality sleep… Time lost to hangovers… Money you could have used to transform your life… I have the privilege of speaking with Shannon who shares openly for the first time about his traumas and struggles growing up as a gay male in an adopted Southern Baptiste family. He speaks about how drugs and alcohol were his way of dealing with his trauma but he also shares the traumas that occurred as a result of drinking and drugging. I speak with Jamie from Problem Gambling NI about his battle with gambling addiction, attending Gamblers anonymous meetings and his road to recovery.I have a chat with Megan about her battle with the booze and how sobriety has helped her mental health. We talk openly about suicidal thoughts and how binge drinking led to crippling anxiety and depression.

Many years ago, my brother made the decision to quit drinking. Alcohol had turned his life upside down, and he had had enough. I’m not familiar with all the struggles he experienced during his journey, but he has been sober for quite some time (I’m not entirely sure how long). He frequently talks about how society is built for drinking, whether in public or not, and trying to quit is difficult in a world where drinking alcohol seems as common as drinking water. I speak to the amazing Moni, a yoga teacher based in Las Vegas. We discuss her sober story, living in Las Vegas sober and how yoga gave her the extra insight she needed in maintaining sobriety. The Sober On A Drunk Planet podcast follows the success of the book Sober On A Drunk Planet Book and Audio Series. Here we talk to amazing guests about their battles with alcohol and other drugs and how getting sober allowed them to live a life unimaginable when they were drunk or high (or both!). I speak to Tia about her journey from party girl to attending alcoholics anonymous. We discuss our pre-conceptions of what we thought Alcoholics anonymous was but the surprising turn of events that helped us both become sober. This week's guest is Leo, a DJ with his own record label, who has navigated life in hard mode and now chooses to stay sober so he can make the most of his life. We talk about life as a Dj, sober festivals and what he has learnt from previous sober attempts.

The incredible transformation you'll see in your body when you stop drinking (there are subtle side effects you're not even aware of until you stop) As far as tone goes, he went for an emphatic voice, sort of like he was salesman for sobriety. While I believe he feels this way, writing in this style always feels a bit disingenuous to me. The book is filled with lofty promises of endless energy, disappearing anxiety, loads of confidence, career success, fitness, etc. I agree that alcohol can be an impediment to these things, but in my experience quitting drinking doesn't create super-humans. Likewise, I felt like he underplayed some of the challenges associated with total abstinence. Imagine the difference in your life if you were to take those side effects away and save the money to fund what you really want to do with your life – and there's a strong chance it involves something a whole lot more fulfilling than a glass of wine or bottle of beer. Sober On A Drunk Planet: Giving Up Alcohol. The Unexpected Shortcut to Finding Happiness, Health and Financial Freedom by Sean Alexander – eBook Details

This weeks guest is James, a celebrity hairstylist, who shares his battles with addiction, sobriety and about living a life beyond sobriety. We mark every occasion with alcohol, whether it's a good day, bad day, new job, old job, divorce, wedding, funeral, birthday, holiday and the list goes on and on…you can always guarantee that someone, somewhere, is getting drunk… and it's 'normal' to get drunk right? How many times have you told yourself ‘never again’ but found yourself repeating the same negative actions of drinking, hangover, regret and repeat? Sober On A Drunk Planet provides an easy 3 step solution to quit drinking alcohol for good. The more subtle argument that I felt that it failed to make was "you should go from drinking occasionally/moderately to not drinking at all". Being someone who went from drinking occasionally to not at all, I don't think I would have been hard to persuade, but I don't feel like Alexander really tried.

I speak to Katie about her sober story, navigating life at 25 sober and how she has grown up with a parent in AA. I just wanted to celebrate the fact that I have got my first business loan approved after going through debt relief in 2016. Something that at the time, I couldn't see past, but the last 4.5 years have been incredibly challenging from a financial perspective as it's a daily reminder of my troubled past.

This weeks guest is Anthony, who is a personal trainer making the most of life without the booze. He is eight weeks sober and we catch up to find out more about his motivation to get sober, what life was like when he was drunk and how he has noticed powerful changes in only 8 weeks. PDF / EPUB File Name: Sober_On_A_Drunk_Planet_-_Sean_Alexander.pdf, Sober_On_A_Drunk_Planet_-_Sean_Alexander.epub I talk about my addiction to alcohol, drugs and gambling in a particularly dark time for me when I was 28 and how rehab saved my life. I talk about my experience of going to Alcoholics anonymous and doing the 12 step programme. I also talk about how I feel out of favour with the programme and found sobriety connection in other ways. Paul speaks about his time in the steel industry, heavy drinking from his twenties and how it all seemed very normal at the time. The story progresses when his drinking turns to morning drinking, the withdrawals he would have from alcohol if he didn't top up and how he got into recovery. Alcohol is expensive, and it has side effects that go far beyond just having a headache the next day.
