Why I jumped on the chance to buy is because I occasionally use a rotisserie. Of course, wire on a spinning spit is never going to work, so I loved the idea of a genuinely wireless thermometer. It supports up to 6 probes and comes supplied with an ambient pit probe and two food monitoring probes. Six probes may seem like a lot, but I often cook large meals for a crowd, and I love the fact I can accurately monitor up to 6 foods when I need to, or the cooking temperature of multiple grills or smokers if I desire.

We tested 22 meat thermometers in our Birmingham, Alabama, testing lab to find out which were easiest to use and produced accurate readings. Additionally, our expert testers use certain models in their home kitchens, who regularly supply us with home-cooking insights and updates on long-term wear and tear. Because the readout on the unit is small, they give you color-coded visual cues. The ring around the display window changes color as the temperature of your meat gets closer to the set temperature: They tell you when your grill or smoker temperature drops or falls below your target, and when your meat needs attention due to internal temperature, not by time, so you’ll never under or overcook your food again. Here’s my full review of the Inkbird IBT-4XS Bluetooth Meat Thermometer. Highlights of the Inkbird IBT-4XS Bluetooth Meat ThermometerThe probe attaches inside the grill or inserts into the meat. It sends the temperature information through the cable into the transmitter, which sends a signal to a receiver, usually your cell phone. While some parts of some grill thermometers are billed as dishwasher-safe, for the most part, thermometers should always be hand-washed, taking care to avoid submerging the transmitter or display. If you’re able to carefully wash just the probe with soap and hot water without getting the digital components wet, that’s fine. Otherwise, wipe everything with a clean, damp cloth to remove any debris, then sterilize the entire thermometer with an alcohol or bleach wipe. Alternatively, you can use a paper towel with rubbing alcohol or a sanitizing bleach solution (1 tablespoon of bleach to 1 gallon of water). Once clean, be sure to immediately and thoroughly dry all parts of the thermometer before putting it away. Meanwhile, the base unit also shows the information, so it’s simple to glance at it when the cook is near the grill. We particularly liked the design of the base, which was quite easy to read. The included color-coded probe rings make it easy to see which probe belongs to each temperature reading on the base. For cooks who don’t like apps, the base unit can easily be used without the app. This is available in multiple colors to match the décor or stand out from the crowd.

The signals comes complete with a total of four probes, three for your food and one to monitor the temperature inside your pit. Each probe has colored rings at each end to more easily identify which probe is measuring what. This app has everything you would want except interactive graphs and cook history. If you want those features then a WiFi meat thermometer is your best bet. As I’ve mentioned, I included only Bluetooth meat thermometers in this review. I was tempted to include the MEATER Plus meat thermometer, but that has WiFi ability as well as Bluetooth. My fourth-place choice for the best Bluetooth meat Thermometer goes to the Tenergy Solis Bluetooth Meat thermometer. A clear display that’s easily read so you don’t have to move the thermometer or open the oven to see it is key. You may also appreciate the ability to switch between celsius and fahrenheit for different recipes. Other functions, such as the temperature of the oven or a countdown to the moment your food is cooked, are nice to have, but may not be necessary day-to-day.We tested this thermometer in our Lab and found it to be mostly straightforward to set up, with a little bit of a learning curve to get to know how to adjust its settings. First and foremost, we loved how accurate the thermometer is—it comes calibrated with an accuracy of ±2 degrees Fahrenheit straight from the factory. We also really like that you can easily hear the alarm thanks to its four volume settings.

The smartphone app is well designed, well thought out, easy and intuitive to use, and in my experience so far, has a stable connection, unlike many offerings in the BBQ world that tend to suffer occasional disconnection. So, although by far not the most accurate thermometer on this list, it does perform within the manufacturer’s advertised range of accuracy and is good enough for most purposes. We tested this thermometer and found it to be a satisfactory alternative to pricier models. Though it doesn't have fancier options like presets or a Bluetooth connectivity, it still gets the job done. The alarm is persistent and audible enough to get your attention, even when using outdoors. For the price, it's absolutely worth it, especially if you don't need a model that is particularly heavy-duty. What’s more, the single probe has two thermometers, one at each end of the Meater, one for monitoring the internal temperature of your meat, and the other end to measure and report the temp of your grill. The display on the unit is large at 1.88 x 3.97 inches. It is easy to read and shows the temperature of all four possible probes simultaneously, their high and low temperature settings, as well as any alarms you may have set. Each channel can be given a name if desired, perhaps of the cut of meat you are cooking.
