About this deal

Ektar handles pushing well for some extra bold colors, especially if you are not contending with skin tones.

My Experiences with Kodak Ektar 100 - Casual Photophile

The Ektar film handled this so well and brought out the deep colour of the wood panneling, but managed to make it slightly redder, which works really well. In this image, the red-orange of the brick building renders very nicely and you can also see the vibrant greens from the highway sign. I have tried to capture these elements within my local area and provide the results united for your comparison. More contrasty than Portra, Ektar creates dark darks and bright brights in a way that’s deep and beautiful.Wedding photographer Meay (Naphatthanan Petariyavong) tried out our brand new LomoChrome Color '92 ISO 400 Film for a cinematic photoshoot. In this one we again see slightly less saturation of Portra which is even worse in lower light - this was taken towards the evening.

Remembering the hike from days before, the greens of the trees and the yellows of the rocky caverns, I was sure that these were shown in my photos to be far more vibrant than reality. This makes Ektar a film that does just a bit more than it’s cheaper brother, but looks like it’s trying to be it’s Slide film brother. While certain printing processes and scanning software may be able to diminish this effect, it could get tricky to get rid of when it does show. A problem we encountered is that Ektar can have several different looks, even from the same roll of film. Similarly to Fuji the advent of digital photography at the turn of the century caused significant financial problems. Another film named "Ektar" was introduced in 1989 by Eastman Kodak as a semi-professional color negative film, but it was later discontinued and was replaced by Royal Gold. From a technical perspective the weather was perfect, maybe a few too many white clouds, but the Ektar handled the exposure really well.

Kodak Ektar 100 review, by Lewis Collard! Kodak Ektar 100 review, by Lewis Collard!

Having shot this film in all kinds of weather conditions, I believe that some of the best images I got from it came during the snow days. If Portra is the every mans color film aimed at portraits, then Ektar is the film aimed at everything else.As a film in the Kodak Professional range, it’s not going to be a rarity in most of the world, like an Oriental Seagull 100 is for example. Decades later the name would be applied to an ill-fated range of semi-professional film (not to be confused with today’s Ektar). His skills are in SEO, app development, content planning, ethics management, photography, Wordpress, and other things. Within the film photography zeitgeist, I’ve anecdotally seen a shift from the omni-popular Portra and Cinestill toward Ektar 100. I’m not going to spell out everything you can’t do with Ektar though, when I can instead tell you what you can.
