About this deal

Demme has stated that one night of shooting was dedicated almost entirely to wide shots from a distance, to minimize the intrusion of cameras on stage. The soundtrack is just as essential, given the impeccable performance of some of Talking Heads best songs from 'Psycho Killer' to 'Life During Wartime', 'Once In A Lifetime' and even Tom Tom Club's 'Genius Of Love'.

Byrne would perform Girlfriend Is Better wearing his now-iconic, oversized business suit inspired by costumes worn in traditional Japanese theater. I didn't really know what was going on at the time but it must have made quite a bit of an impression as it comes to mind much more than old editions of Ted Rogers' '3-2-1' and 'Blankety Blank'. While it focuses mainly on music by Talking Heads but does include a few songs recorded outside the band: ‘Genius Of Love’ by Weymouth and Frantz’s side-project Tom Tom Club and ‘What A Day That Was’ and ‘Big Business’ from Byrne’s 1981 album, The Catherine Wheel. As the meaning behind their label name suggests (a rough translation from Spanish as 'hill view') Loma Vista has climbed to the summit of today's musical landscape, engaging and representing a sweeping range of the most popular scenes and genres of today.Leonard Maltin gave it four out of four, describing it as "brilliantly conceived, shot, edited and performed" and "one of the greatest rock movies ever made. The band gradually introduces a member on stage with each successive song, with David Byrne opening with a solo acoustic and drum machine reversion of their early classic single ‘Psycho Killer’. It includes references to the staging and music styles of Talking Heads, with the band's lead singer (played by Fred Armisen) parodying Byrne.
