Description

The Alesis Turbo mesh kit is a fantastic kit for beginners who want to build and perfect their drumming skill. The learning tools and coach function enhance this learning process.

The Alesis Turbo Mesh Electronic Drum Kit is one of the newest e-drums to come from Alesis' critically acclaimed all-mesh drum kits in 2018. If you are looking for bang on performances time after time that leave your audience reeling, then this is certainly a kit to consider. As with all, all-mesh Alesis kits the responsive, authentic feel makes the drumming and audio experience expressive and powerful. Another benefit that’s standard on most modules today is the aux input. Using your phone, tablet, or laptop, you can easily jam along with your favorite songs from Spotify, or play along with lessons on YouTube. USB/MIDI Functionality The metronome features different time signatures and tempos from 30-280 BPM. Use a metronome while you practice if you aren’t already. It helps your timing more than you know. Drums and Drummers come from a wide spectrum of people, but anyone who uses an electric kit has done so under a very simple premise- Mic-ing acoustic drums is not fun. But when it comes down to how you actually want to record your drums, a few options open up. This guide will help you navigate them.Mobile devices like phone and tablets, including laptops, can be connected to the module via the ‘ Aux‘ input to play along to songs from streaming platforms and also Youtube tutorials.

Playing on the kit will give a feel and experience similar to playing on an acoustic drum set, with the way it is set up and the fact that it is made of mesh head further enhances this experience. The cymbals are fully shaped and nut half cut out like some other low priced electronic drum kits like the Yamaha DTX450K. pad controllers, and drums. Whether you’re just starting out or are a seasoned pro looking to learnFor young drummers learning, Alesis provides three great learning tools with the module — a metronome, drum coach, and 40 free lessons from Melodics ( read my review on Melodics here ). I’d almost opt for eliminating the bell sound at that point. I doubt there’s a way to program that, given the limited module functionality. Getting Around the Sounds It has 12 rubber buttons asides the power button and volume control button, for programming functions and carrying out operations and settings on the drum kit. It also has a small LCD screen in between the power button and the volume button, for displaying ongoing functions and operations on the drum kit. For example, my kit, the Alesis Strike, doesn’t even have great sounds to my ears. That kit is 5x the price of the Turbo Mesh and has a much better module.

Also, you can program the processor to produce different sounds using MIDI I/O and ¼” and 1/8” I/O, as there is a provision for this on the module. All four pads have tunable tension rods, allowing adjustment of the head tightness. Mesh heads are often very bouncy, so bringing them down a bit can sometimes help feel more natural. The Cymbal Pads The pads and cymbals have velocity- sampling for different velocities of strikes on the drum kit. The pads have the three-step velocity to detect mild, medium and intense velocity plays on the drum kit, to reproduce the accompanying sound on impact. The cymbal also samples different velocities one of which is the bell sound that is obtained on striking the cymbal hard. Connectivity To External DevicesThe Turbo Mesh electronic drum kit includes seven-pieces and mesh drum heads. As I’ve stated in other articles, mesh heads are now the standard on electric sets. While this feature is nice, the transition between the velocity ranges is very noticeable. Cymbal Velocities Similar to the pads, the cymbals also feature different samples for the varying velocities. If you hit the bow of the cymbal hard, a bell sample plays.

A mesh head is made from a stretched material to create skins similar to those found on an acoustic drum kit. They are very much suitable for beginner drummers to learn and practice with as opposed to kits with a rubber head. As the name suggests, the Alesis Turbo Mesh Electronic Drum kit was produced using the next-generation Alesis Mesh head drum technology.

Both connections have their positives and negatives and it's important to do your own research before you try one or the other- an interface will probably cost as much as a good drum plugin that is on sale; the real difference being that Midi notes can be edited and quantized for mistakes and mixing, whereas you get you get what you get from your audio output and you will need to do your mix of the drums before you begin recording.
