The bottle looks impressive, enticing me to try the Widow Jane bourbon. Here is my thorough review on this bourbon after trying it. Presentation and Impressions The Whiskey One of the most highly regarded 10-year-old bourbons on the market, Eagle Rare 10 has been distilled, aged, and bottled the same way since its inception in 1975. This award-winning (and audience favorite) bourbon was aged for ten years in charred, American oak barrels. The result is one of the most mellow, easy-to-drink bourbons on the market and a bargain if you can manage to grab it for retail. Right away, I noticed that the aromas were a little muted for a ten-year-old expression. While I noticed long woody, oak scents and just a hint of vanilla, that was about it. There was more going on with the flavor on the palate, as I noticed hints of raisins, caramel corn, and just a wisp of smoke. Once blended, she brings the whiskey to proof using limestone filtered water from Widow Jane’s mine in Rosendale New York. It’s from the Rosendale mines that the brand gets its name, as local lore suggests that the mine was left to a wealthy magnate’s widow, Jane, though the historical record is a bit murky. This is where things get hard … already. This was pretty freaking good. It was interesting. But something had to be last and there was a pretty big gap between this and number one, two, and three. However, the gap between this and numbers eight through four is pretty much paper-thin. (tie) 8. Orphan Barrel Copper Tongue Aged 16 Years — Taste 4 Diageo

If we decide not to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms, such decision shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Generally speaking, bourbon hits a sweet spot around ten years old. It’s sort of a demarcation point between the cheaper, small-batch, bottled-in-bond stuff and the single barrels, unicorns, and super old stuff (think 20-plus years). Bourbon whiskeys around ten years old (or maybe a couple of years older) are a little more expensive, a little more refined, and a little more extra but they’re not always harder to find. At ten years, the spirit absorbs the flavor of the barrels and mellows out even more. Final ThoughtsThe bourbon features a rich copper color with an aroma of buttery caramel fudge, roasted pecans, and brown spices. Since bourbon is required by law to contain 51 percent corn, we know that each of these barrels will have that in common. Production & Maturation Unlike high rye bourbons, Eagle Rare bourbon lives up to its name because of its distinctive taste experience and pleasing tasting notes.

Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products.Aging is important to bourbon because it gives the distilled spirit its distinct flavor profile and appearance. Since the bourbons aged eight to twelve taste smoother than younger and older ones, it would be better to find the best 10-year bourbon. When you take the first sip, you will notice the burning of alcohol from start to finish. The toffee and caramel flavors are pretty strong, along with the taste of vanilla.
